Lonnie’s Autobody Ltd. is committed to safeguarding your personal information entrusted to us. We manage your personal information in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable laws. Outlined below are the principles and practices we follow in protecting your personal information.
What is personal information? What personal information do we collect?
Personal information means information about an identifiable individual. We collect only the personal information that we need for the purposes of providing auto repair services to our clients. For our purposes and to provide our services, this will include an individual’s name, home address, phone number(s) and email address.
We normally collect customer personal information directly from our customers but we may also collect your information from other persons with your consent or as authorized by law.
We assume your consent to continue to use and, where applicable, disclose personal information that we have already collected, for the purpose for which the information was collected.
A client may withdraw consent to the use and disclosure of personal information at any time, unless the personal information is necessary for us to fulfil our service obligations. We will respect your decision, but we may not be able to provide you with certain products and services if we do not have the necessary personal information.
How do we use and disclose personal information?
We use and disclose client personal information only for the purpose for which the information was collected. For example, we require a client’s personal information to begin an autobody repair, to order parts and to stay in contact with our customer throughout the repair. We also may disclose some personal information to a third party for sublet work if there are repairs to the vehicle that are beyond the scope of our services provided, such as major mechanical, detailing, warranty work, tire repair, etc.
How do we safeguard personal information?
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that personal information is accurate and complete. If you are aware of an error in our information about you, please let us know and we will correct it on request whenever possible. We make every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information. We use appropriate security measures when destroying personal information, including shredding paper records and permanently deleting electronic records. We retain personal information for the length required for business purposes required by law.
